Fire Extinguisher

What is Fire Extinguisher ?

A fire extinguisher is a device used to put out or control small fires, often in emergency situations. It works by releasing a substance that either cools the burning material, removes oxygen, or disrupts the chemical reaction of the fire.

Types & Classes of Fire Extinguisher

  • Water Extinguisher

Effective on Class A fires (wood, paper, cloth). They cool the burning material.

  • Foam Extinguishers

Suitable for Class A and B fires (flammable liquids like gasoline). They form a foam blanket that smothers the fire and prevents re-ignition.

  • Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Extinguishers:

Good for Class B and electrical fires. They work by displacing oxygen and cooling the fire.

  • Dry Chemical Extinguishers

Versatile and effective on Class A, B, and C fires (electrical fires). They interrupt the chemical reaction of the fire.

  • Wet Chemical Extinguishers

Designed for Class K fires (kitchen fires involving cooking oils and fats). They work by forming a soapy layer that cools and prevents re-ignition
